Animated Cakes — Special Effects (Thessaloniki)

Animated Cakes brought 3D cake projection mapping to Greece for the first time. Based in Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki, the studio turns your wedding cake into a moving, personalised spectacle that tells the story of you and your partner.

How the technique works

We use two high-definition video projectors — one on each side of the cake — and apply our own mapping expertise to constrain the projected image to the exact dimensions of the cake. The result is a clean, sharp animation that lives on the cake itself, with no spill onto the table or background. The setup works in both indoor and outdoor venues.

The creators

• Vassilis Issopoulos — Art Director with 14+ years of experience in theatre and cinema as a director and performer. Vassilis personally supervises every artistic stage of each animated cake.
• George Kargas — General Manager with a background in photography and business operations. George coordinates the full process, from briefing to on-site execution.

Preparation. After your booking, you send us photos and videos from your life as a couple. Our editing team uses this material to build a video that narrates your story and that will play on the cake. We collect a few extra details during preparation so the final show feels truly personal.

On the day. One of our specialists arrives early at your venue, calibrates the projection to the exact shape and size of the cake, and stays on site to operate the show until it ends.

The show has two stages. First, a welcome stage with cinematic visuals on the cake while guests arrive and settle in — the cake becomes a centrepiece of your decoration. Then the main event: once the couple has made their entrance, the focus shifts to the cake with a personalised animation, leading up to the cake cutting that closes the show.

Animated Cakes works primarily with weddings, but the same projection mapping technique fits other milestone events:
