About Kopsidi Kaisariani

Kopsidi Kaisariani is a traditional Greek taverna and event venue right in front of the Kaisariani park, a few minutes east of central Athens. The space is set under tall plane trees with a green, shaded courtyard that gives the place its character — the kind of Athenian taverna that locals know and out-of-town guests remember.

Operating since 2018, Kopsidi has built a reputation for grilled meats, generous portions and a warm, family-run feel. The owners are personally involved in every event and easy to plan with — from a casual dinner to a full wedding reception for 180–200 guests.

Spaces & capacity

  • Indoor hall — covered seating with traditional taverna styling
  • Garden / outdoor area — under the plane trees, ideal for spring and summer events
  • Capacity up to 180–200 guests — perfect for medium-sized weddings, baptisms and corporate gatherings
  • Dance floor with live music option — guaranteed to get every table on its feet

What we serve

  • Kontosouvli — slow-roasted pork and chicken on the spit
  • Kokoretsi — the traditional Greek classic, done properly
  • Lamb and goat — tender milk-fed paidakia and slow-roasted cuts
  • Provatina paidaki and provatina sti ladokola — house specialties
  • Biftekia and brizoles — handmade burgers and grilled chops
  • Classic mezedes and salads — fresh, seasonal, with homemade sauces
  • Greek wines, ouzo, tsipouro — full bar service
  • Kids and dietary options — discuss with the team when you book

Why couples choose Kopsidi for after-wedding parties

After a city-hall ceremony in Athens, many couples want to gather their closest 50–200 guests in one warm, no-fuss place. Kopsidi works because:

  • Easy logistics — 10 minutes from central Athens, with parking nearby
  • Honest, abundant Greek food that pleases every generation at the table
  • Owners who actually plan with you — share your floor plan, table layout and menu directly with them
  • Live music option — couples consistently say the live music is what turned dinner into a party
  • Indoor + outdoor flexibility — the venue handles weather changes without drama

Events we host

Civil-wedding receptions, baptisms, engagement parties, corporate dinners, birthdays and themed parties. Two-page PDF menu available on request, plus tailored set menus for groups.

For larger groups, the team can pre-arrange kontosouvli stations, kokoretsi service, and a dessert table with seasonal Greek sweets.

A semi-traditional Greek wedding party — without the 5am marathon

Most traditional Greek wedding parties run until 5am, with bouzouki and rebetiko deep into the night. That is its own kind of magic — but not every couple wants the full marathon. Kopsidi is one of the few Athens venues that genuinely understands a semi-traditional wedding party: shorter, more intentional, with all the music, food and dancing of a classic Greek night, just compressed into a 6-hour window (typically 8pm–2am).

The team adjusts the flow of the menu, the transitions of the live music and the timing of the cake so that the energy peaks at the right moment and the night closes naturally — not because the band stopped, but because everyone lived a full party. This makes Kopsidi an ideal choice for couples who want:

  • A civil wedding after-party that ends in time for a hotel night out
  • Smaller weddings (40–80 guests) where a 5am close would feel forced
  • Older guests, kids and out-of-town family who appreciate an earlier finish
  • Couples planning a post-wedding stay in central Athens or a destination wedding in Greece

Live music, dance floor and the moment the night turns

Kopsidi works with several trusted Greek live music bands — typically 3 to 5 pieces, covering bouzouki, vocals, guitar, percussion and keys. The bands know how to read the room: low and acoustic during dinner, then sliding into Greek classics around 22:30, then full bouzouki and dance floor until the cake.

For couples who do not want a full band, Kopsidi can host a DJ + microphone setup for speeches and shorter playlists. Either way, the dance floor is the right size — small enough to feel like a circle, big enough that no one elbows their neighbour during the syrtaki.

The lighting is warm and forgiving (which photographers and grandmothers both appreciate), and the PA is sized for the room, so vocals stay clear during speeches and music never overpowers conversation at the back tables.

Booking, menu tasting and what to expect

Book early. Kopsidi is one of the most-requested taverna venues east of central Athens, and weekends fill up months in advance — especially April through October, when the garden under the plane trees comes into its own.

Typical planning flow:

  1. Initial enquiry — call or email with date, guest count and event type
  2. Menu and floor-plan call — owners walk you through the PDF menu, dietary options, kids' menu, and recommend live music or DJ
  3. In-person visit — walk the indoor hall and the garden, choose your dance-floor placement, agree on the cake-cutting flow
  4. Floor plan share — couples using WhiteClover can share their wedding seating chart directly with the venue, including table numbers and dietary notes per guest
  5. Final headcount 7 days before — menu, drinks and timing locked in
  6. Day of — owners are on-site, hands-on, all night

The team is happy to host a menu tasting for parties above ~80 guests, with a representative selection of mezedes, mains and desserts.

Location — Kaisariani, minutes from central Athens

Kopsidi Kaisariani sits directly opposite the Kaisariani park entrance on the eastern edge of Athens. From central Athens (Syntagma) you are looking at a 10–12 minute drive; from the Athens international airport, around 30 minutes. Street parking is available, and for older guests we recommend arranging a small shuttle or taxi block for the end of the night.

The neighbourhood is residential and quiet, which means the outdoor garden stays calm even on weekends — a notable contrast to taverna venues squeezed between bars in central Plaka or Psyrri. For couples planning a post-wedding hotel stay, central Athens hotels like the boutique Niche Hotel Athens on Syngrou Avenue are about a 25-minute drive back.
