What the Verified badge means
Some businesses in our directory carry a Verified badge. It stands for one specific thing, and it is worth knowing exactly what that is before you read anything into it.
It means we have spoken to them
Someone from WhiteClover contacted the business directly. They answered, they are trading, and the details on their page are the ones they gave us. That is the whole check.
It is a small claim and we keep it small on purpose. A badge that means several vague things at once ends up meaning nothing.
It is not a rating
We have not judged their work, visited their venue, tasted the food or compared their prices. Verified says nothing about whether a business suits your wedding, only that it is real and that it answers.
Read their page, look at their photos, then call them. The badge is a starting point, not a verdict.
No badge does not mean a bad business
It means we have not called them yet. There are far more businesses in the directory than calls we have made, and we work through them steadily.
A vendor without a badge may well be the best one on the list. We simply have not spoken to them, so we are not going to claim that we have.
How a business earns it
By talking to us. The badge cannot be bought and it does not come with a listing. There is no fee, no tier and no upgrade that adds it.

Why we do it by phone
Most wedding directories are assembled by copying details off other websites. That is how a listing ends up naming a business that closed two years ago, or a number that rings out.
A phone call is a low-tech check. It is also the one check that cannot be copied off a website, which is why it is the one we chose.
